Historian and political science student Mandy Littlefield is the creator of Mandy’s Royalty. Her passion is to bring the history of Britain’s monarchy to her fellow Americans. She now intends to expand on her work to cover present US/UK relations and our historical ties.
Mandy made her first trip to London with her husband in 2008, an amazing experience that she hopes to repeat in the near future.
The start of it all
Mandy’s interest in the monarchy began at age seventeen. Her grandmother’s stories, as well as genealogy research, led Mandy to her English roots and an interest in the country’s system of government.
From the ancient rituals to national debates, the monarchy was fast becoming a favorite topic in Mandy’s house. She discovered that the Royal Family was an incredible living representation of history and that the Queen is tirelessly dedicated to crown, country, and Commonwealth. In 1998, “Mandy’s British Royalty” was born to document Mandy’s research and her admiration for the Queen.
Mandy encourages a strong connection to Britain in general:
The house that is modern America was built on a British foundation. Our type of government, our laws … We need to remember our roots. If we lose touch with that, then we weaken the bond between two great nations.
